School History

In December of 1962 Drs Shiu Guo-xiang, .Liang Song-wen, .Su Heng-shiang, Yang Xiu-jie, Superintendent Sun Zhen-cheng, Chairman Chen Bao-shu and Superintendent Lu You-zhi seven persons in total realized the lack of talents in nursing and midwifery in southern Taiwan, especially in the era of flourishing medical development. With the view to urgent cultivating nursing and midwifery professionals for improving citizens’ health conditions, they collectively made donations to establish the school. The following year on the basis of the correspondence of the education third wording No.04084 dated on September 27from the Educational Hall of Taiwan Provincial Government; the school was approved to recruit students of one class for the 3-year nursing and midwifery course each. Later on, the classes increased to meet the demands of society year after year.

In the August of 1970, the school was reorganized into 4-Year Nursing School. In the 1990, the school was reorganized into 3-Year Nursing School. In the August of 1997, the Department of Foreign Languages」 was added. In the beginning, the resources of the school were insufficient on many aspects. However, the significant contributions were made by principals such as Fown-Tzu Chang, Song-Hui Liang, Rong-Mei Wang, Su-Zhen Guo, Wan-Cai Du, Su-Lan, Luo, Hui-Min Zhuang, school was become more and more stable. Moreover, the huge input from the board of trustee provided the great number of supports and resources, the school was become excellent. Now, the graduations are working on the hospital system around the world, they all have fine reputations from patients and society.

To cultivate more medicine-related professionals in response to the demands of society, the school board supports the transformation by all means to cope with national policies in improving the core values of medicine-related professionals. On December 30, 1999, the Ministry of Education (MOE) approved the transformation and the Preparatory Office of Yuh-Ing Junior College and Health Care and Management was then established. Under the guidance of the Bureau of Education, Kaohsiung City Government and the endeavor of the board, staff, students and parents, the school received the approval from MOE and became Yuh-Ing Junior College of Health Care and Management on August 1, 2003.

The first two presidents were Dr. Li-Mei Chen and Dr. Yuh-Chu Huang. The current president Dr. Jung-Shun Tsai has a vision of cultivating professionals possessing an attitude of respect for work and fraternity. To achieve this goal, he has actively recruited new faculty and expanded modern teaching equipment for school. In 2007, with the nursing department as a strong base , the departments of Senior Citizen Service Management and the department of Cosmetic Applications and Management were established in anticipation of the arrival of aging society and new trends in health and beauty. We strongly believe under the direction of the present chairman of the board, Chun-Ming Yang and the president Dr. Tsai, Yuhing will continue to be a place where outstanding professional talents of nursing, aging care and health beauty are properly trained and give back to society by ensuring the health and happiness for all citizens.
